BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, was launched in year 2003 by the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) of Europe.
BSCI is a unified framework established to enable retailers, industrial companies and importers to implement social responsibility within their global supply chains. Its core purpose is to create common standards, a shared monitoring system, and consistent implementation measures and processes. This drives continuous improvement in working conditions worldwide by promoting and improving corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices among businesses.
BSCI focuses on 4 critical pillars of social responsibility:
1. Labour Rights: Ensuring fair wages, eliminating workplace discrimination, prohibiting the use of child labour and forced labour, respecting freedom of association and guaranteeing reasonable working hours.
2. Health & Safety: Protecting workers by ensuring safe workplaces and operational procedures, preventing occupational injuries and illnesses and providing adequate emergency preparedness.
3. Environmental Protection: Promoting responsible environmental practices, including reducing energy consumption, minimizing pollution and managing waste effectively.
4. Business Ethics: Upholding principles of integrity in operations, strictly prohibiting business corruption, bribery, and promoting fair competition.
In 2012, BSCI officially launched its dedicated China website
Same in 2012, SINO first obtained BSCI certification and has maintained this certification successfully , passing annual audits for 13 years to date.
